Buy the Album February 8, 2010

As we move towards the end of the Dance E-jay project we’ve started to think about selling our album.      We need to make lots of money to have a party, so we decided to make a radio advert.   We listened to a few TV adverts and tried to pick out some phrases that were thought would sound good on the radio.   It was very funny especially when one of the adverts started with ‘Come on you Nutters!’

We took a selection from the tracks that we made in Dance E-jay and then recorded our own adverts over the top using Audacity.  We tried to use some of the phrases that we heard and even added.   Here are our results, which would get you to buy the album?   Remember everything you hear has been made by a nine year old!

Reece and Daniel

Grace, Chantelle and Scott

Angel and Josie-Leigh

Jermaine and William

Say No To Bullying January 23, 2010

Filed under: People in School, School — headcharlestown @ 1:37 pm

We started our new SEAL theme this week with an assembly all about bullying. Children in each class are busy learning about bullying this half term; what it is, how we can spot it and what to do if you think that somebody is being bullied. All the teachers have discussed it at the staff meeting and Mrs Jones is reviewing our policies. If you are being bullied you must let us know and we will be able to stop it. Mrs Jones has a drop in every lunch time for children who might be worried or concerned about anything that is happening at school or at home. If you are worried that you or someone you know is being bullied why not drop in to Mrs Jones and have a chat. If we all work together we can ‘Say No To Bullying.’

Over the last year our Clustermap has been growing steadily as more and more people from all over the world come to have a look at what we’re up to here at Charlestown.   In a couple of weeks our map will start all  over again.  I though that we should have a record of it here just to remind ourselves how fantastic our blogging adventure has been so far!  Click on the map to see it in more detail.

In Year Five yeasterday we started our unit on making Dance music using DFance E-jay.

We learned how to sort and select samples and began to put them into our own tracks.   It was great fun.   Hopefully soon we’ll have some music to play online and maybe even an album to release!

Slightly randomly here’s a video of Year 5 taking up their models at the end of our D+T week last term.   I forgot to post it then – sorry everyone!

Sound  like fun? I can’t wait!! see you all Monday.

If you have any ‘finished with’ super hero figures ,princess dolls  or  comics about super heroes that we can use please bring them in!  ( don’t bring in things that you want back as they often get broken or lost at school )

Hi Year 4. I hope that you are all having fun in the snow and that you are keeping warm and safe. I’m including some work that you can be getting on with while you are stuck at home.

First of all I would like you to review our learning from before Christmas. I have made you two Mind42 maps covering the Tudors and Mountains. Please visit those older posts below and complete some of those activities.

Try some tables practice with the self-correcting quizzes here: http://www.multiplication.com/quickquizzes.htm

Try this tricky “Hear/here, Their/there activity and see how many you get right. http://www.teachingandlearningresources.co.uk/homophones.shtml

For a bit of fun explore these sound effects and think about how you might include them in tour work! http://www.grsites.com/sounds/

And finally; post some comments on the other class blogs. Have a good time and I hope to see you next week.

Miss Formosa

Hi everybody!  Hope that you’ve all had a really good time playing out in the snow.   If you’re looking for something to do today have a look at the links that I’ve set up for you.

Our topic this term is all based around making Dance music.  We’re going to be making our own tracks and producing an album hopefully.   You’re also going to have to  write instructions for others on how to do it.  To get you started I’ve put together some videos that show how dance music has changed over the last 100 years or so.   Your instructions are as follows:

  • Click the link below
  • Set the slider on the left to 25 years so that you can see all the videos
  • Click on the video that you want to watch.
  •  Leave a comment on this blog post saying the track that you liked the most, so that others can try to find it too! Try to say what it was about the music that you liked.

When you’ve done that have a go on Tutpup and see if you can get any more medals.   If you’ve got any problems just email me mrkp@mrkp.org.uk and I’ll try and get them sorted out for you.

PS: Thanks to all the teacher for getting these blogposts up so quickly!   Any comments from parent or children would be gratefully appreciated!
