12 childfren made a visit to Waterstones, in Manchester to claim their free books, just for sharing and reviewing a favourite book of theirs. The chidlren thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different titles available to them. I think a lot of late night reading is going to take place tonight! Well done everyone, enjoy your books!
Year 2 have been learning about Under the Sea and to complete the topic we took a trip to the Blue planet Aquarium.
The children were excited to see a lot of the animals they had been learning about none more so than the Shark!!
They also got the opportunity to touch a stingray, which Mrs Mullineux also found very exciting too!
We’d like to thank all the people at the Aquarium who made our day very enjoyable.
For our Platinum behaviour day the children worked with an artist to create a mural in our playground.
Rob helped the children to spray their initals on the wall and each child added their own picture.
We all had a fantastic day and the mural looks great!
Today we held our second successful Silver Credit Card activity. The children have been able to take part in lots of fun activities organised by the teachers and teaching assistants. They have been involved in baking rice crispie cakes, (some of which will be sold at the Summer Fete on Saturday), cycling, painting, marble printing, sewing, knitting, outdoor games and cross stitching. Well done to all the children for their persistant good behaviour and thanks to all the staff for organising such fun activities for the children.
Today we celebrated R.E. week by having a lively visit by Minister Matthew Norris, who kindly came to answer our questions about Christianity and to teach us some fun songs. Then, later, we sent some balloons flying over our neighbourhood with messages inspired by our study of Christianity, such as ‘love one another’, ‘peace’ and ‘share with one another’. If you find one of our messages, ring the school and let us know. We’ve already received a call from Huddersfield in Yorkshire!!
The children from nursery and reception asked questions about Ramadan and Eid. We all had a taste of the food, and some children tried on the clothes. We had a lovely morning and have enjoyed learning about Islam all week.
Year 5 had a fantastic afternoon on Monday teaching their friends and family what they had learnt during the ‘Higher Futures 4 U’ course. The children showed our visitors a selection of the activities they had enjoyed during the course, including how to make a paper clip move using only the mind!
Thank you to all those who attended, Year 5 loved teaching you about ‘Higher Futures 4 U’.
In year one we’ve been learning all about how to keep fit and healthy. A big factor in this is what we eat and drink, and Anne Healey (from the school nursing team) came into class to talk to us about healthy food and to make some exciting, healthy dishes which we all enjoyed.
Year four had a great time baking their biscuits ready for their biscuit sale. The children have worked hard to create their own companies, they have used ICT to create letter heads, buisness cards and advertising posters. The children used their evaluations from last week to create the perfect biscuit. Yummy!
The sale was a great success and all of the companies sold out!
Altogether we made £48.55
During this topic the children have worked out prices and quantities in Numeracy, developed their persuasive language skills in Literacy and used ICT to develop their own adverts.
Thanks to Mr Williams and Mrs Hepburn for their help on both baking days.
