Year 6 Money-Making Project Week 4 July 9, 2010

Year 6 are still working hard on their money-making project.  This week Fortune Funds have been selling doughnuts, Cash Run have been making money with a ‘teacher treats’ afternoon where teachers were treated to a variety of treatments including foot spas, head massages and hand massages……all for a small fee, of course!

The jeep experience was won this week by Mrs Taylor’s husband!  It wasn’t a fix, honest!

Next week we have decided to join groups to have one last monster money-making week.  We have already made enough to pay for our trip to Camelot, our leaver’s meal and still have some left over to go towards our holiday in Prestatyn!  Year 6 have also kindly offered to donate £25 to pay for the infant disco.  Well done Year 6!

This week’s totals are:

Cash Run £ 208.92    Taylor &Co.Enterprises £265.21   Fortune Funds £118.90

Making our grand total……£593.03!!!!!

Year 6 have been making the most of the sunshine today and have enjoyed having their Literacy lessons out on the decking.  We were working on word ladders.  We had to start with a word, the next word must start with the last two letters of the previous word and must be at least 6 letters long.  Year 6 were aiming to make their word ladders at least 15 words long.  Here is an example:

Have a go, it’s not as easy as it sounds!!

An Amazing Feat of Strength! February 10, 2010

This was a scene from one of our PE lessons where a number of children stretched themselves between two benches and passed an object around their bodies. We soon passed 100 and then 150 and then 180. Connor McLaughlin (not shown here) sailed past 200 and reached a final score of 244! We were very impressed. We interviewed Connor in assembly the next week to see what kind of lifestyle he leads; we found that he eats healthily and plays lots of sport!

Hi Year 6,

Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!  So Sorry the bad weather has delayed our return to school but don’t worry, we’ll be back at it very soon!  Hope you’ve had lots of fun in the snow without injury.

As you know, our target at the moment in Maths is to learn our times tables.  Please continue to do this a home and have a look on this link

it may make it a bit more fun!

You may also remember that our target in English has been to use paragraphs. This link maybe be useful to recap your memory, have a look…

If you get really bored you may want to write an account of what you have been up to during your break, in paragraphs of course!  It would be great if you could also include some clauses….  such as:

I took my new bike, which is bright red and goes really fast, for a spin around the park.

Finally, I have been working on our new topic which is called ‘All at sea!’  I’ll keep you guessing on that one!  Have a think about what kind of things you would like to learn in this topic-ship wrecks, sea creatures, evolution, the oceans of the world? I look forward to hearing all your great ideas!

Take care and enjoy the rest of your extended holiday!

Mrs Batty

Yesterday was the first of our school Behaviour Credit Card Days.  The vast majority of the school who have behaved well this term and recieved their Bronze award were invited to a cinema afternoon in the hall wearing their own clothes.  Mr. Kirkpatrick even told the children that they could bring in a chocolate bar too!   So much for being a ‘Healthy School!’

Everyone had a great time and it was well deserved!

This term year 4 have been studying the Tudors, they have found it to be far more exciting than they ever realised history could be.

As year 4 just couldn’t get enough of the Tudors, we have created an online learning experience, where the children can complete activities, play fun games and extend their knowledge of the Tudors.

Above each image or title you will find some notes and links each of which, when clicked on, will take you to some terrific Tudor sites.
