Year 2 have been learning about Under the Sea and to complete the topic we took a trip to the Blue planet Aquarium.

The children were excited to see a lot of the animals they had been learning about none more so than the Shark!!

They also got the opportunity to touch a stingray, which Mrs Mullineux also found very exciting too!

We’d like to thank all the people at the Aquarium who made our day very enjoyable.

Hello everyone.

I hope you are all having lots of fun in the snow, can’t wait to hear all about it. If you’ve made any snowmen try and bring pictures of them into class for our Winter display. Hope you have stayed free from any injuries. I’ve been busy planning our topic around bears, particularly around Star and Barnaby Bear. Whilst we are off could you find and write about 5 facts you’ve learnt about bears. You could try looking on: http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Animals/CreatureFeature/Brown-bear

Also we will be beginning work on learning our 2, 5, and 10 times tables and punctuation and sentence construction. To help you with these and working towards our targets you could look on

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks1bitesize/ it has lots of fun activities for you to do.

Enjoy the rest of the snow and hopefully see you all on Monday, can’t wait to hear all your news, maybe you could write me a small  report of your holidays and fun in the snow.

Miss Harris

Year 2 went for a Peel Park, to look at the changes that occur between the seasons. The children discovered that the  leaves begin to change colour and fall off the trees. That some trees remain evergreen throughout the year.

Yesterday a  new member of Year 2 was discovered in the Library. He had left clues in our classroom, we followed these clues which lead to footprints outside our classrrom. These lead to the stranger, reading a book in the Library, looking for a new home for Christmas. We discovered he had no name, so after consulting everyone we have named him Star. He has settled in well into our class. Keep a good look out for him, he might appear in your classroom!

Yesterday was the first of our school Behaviour Credit Card Days.  The vast majority of the school who have behaved well this term and recieved their Bronze award were invited to a cinema afternoon in the hall wearing their own clothes.  Mr. Kirkpatrick even told the children that they could bring in a chocolate bar too!   So much for being a ‘Healthy School!’

Everyone had a great time and it was well deserved!

Punch and JudyYear 2 enjoyed a super trip to the seaside. It was just like I remember from my childhood; sand between the toes, Punch and Judy, Kamikaze seagulls trying to pinch our sandwiches (they were successful in the case of John’s Sausage and Mrs Batty’s ice cream), a walk on the pier and ice creams for all. Thanks to Mrs Batty for organising it all and to John and Miss Turner for supporting the trip.
