Yesterday was the first of our school Behaviour Credit Card Days.  The vast majority of the school who have behaved well this term and recieved their Bronze award were invited to a cinema afternoon in the hall wearing their own clothes.  Mr. Kirkpatrick even told the children that they could bring in a chocolate bar too!   So much for being a ‘Healthy School!’

Everyone had a great time and it was well deserved!

"I remember doing that in Year One!"In the Summer, year one and year five ‘buddied’ up and spent a most interesting and enjoyable couple of afternoons looking at how things change as we grow up. Year one showed their buddies the kinds of things they were learning, and year five told their young buddies all about their move into the juniors and how things change as we move up the school.

They did hand and foot prints to show how we grow.

Washing the potatoes we had dug up.

Today we harvested our potatoes (remember the ones that started life in the grow-bag?). We had re-planted them in our school garden, and now it was time to dig them up!

They're waking up!

They're waking up!

Year 1 were very excited to see our potatoes have sprouted this week. We’ll be keeping our eyes on them, not to mention our rulers (to measure their growth) and our noses to smell the plants! (Some of us have also been touching and feeling the new shoots with their tiny leaves, though we have to be very careful not to disturb them).

Yesterday was World Book Day at school.   Almost everyone got dressed up as a character from their favourite book for the day – including some of the teachers!   We arranged a book swap for everyone and then had an assembly in the afternoon where everybody showed off their creations.   Here are some videos and prefentations to show the sorts of things that went on :

Keep checking this page as it’s going to be updated over the next few days!

Year 1 joined Year 2 and we all visited Quarry Bank Mill in the village of Styal. We spent the day there, looking round the Mill and the Apprentice House then, after lunch, walking across to see the cottages and church.

Look how tall it is!

Look how tall it is!

Some Year 1 children went outside this morning to measure things in and around school. We learned how to use the words ‘length’, height’ and ‘width’ and also how to compare things as ‘longer/wider/taller/shorter’. We had great fun! We recorded our results in a diagram.
